Other Resources

  • Advocacy and Benefits Counseling for Health: (ABC for Health) A Wisconsin-based nonprofit public interest law firm dedicated to ensuring health care access for children and families, particularly those with special needs or who are at risk. ABC for Health’s mission is to provide health care consumers with the information, advocacy tools, legal services and expert support they need to navigate through the complex and confusing health care financing system.
     
  • Family Voices of Wisconsin: A statewide non-profit focused on supporting the voice of families in decision-making, leadership and systems change roles. FVW provides information, training and support around health care and community services to families throughout the state and supports essential partnerships between families and professionals.
     
  • The Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council on Children/Youth With Special Health Care Needs: is a program that assists in providing information, resources, professional support, advocacy, parental training/education, social service coordination and assistance and aid in resolving specific concerns or needs regarding a child’s disability to Native American families in tribal communities in rural northern Wisconsin.
     
  • Health Transition Wisconsin has resources to assist Wisconsin youth, families and health professionals with the transition from pediatric to adult health care.
     
  • Parent to Parent of Wisconsin:  Provides parent support to parents of children with special needs through a one-to-one connection with another parent who has similar experience and who knows firsthand about the feelings and reality that comes with having a child with special needs.
     
  • Wisconsin First Step: A statewide Information and Referral hotline that serves families with children who have special health care needs and professionals. Wisconsin First Step serves as the central directory for Wisconsin’s Birth To 3 Program and as the information and referral hotline for the Wisconsin Regional Centers. A health and human services database of disability-related resources has been developed and is regularly updated.
     
  • The Wisconsin Genetics Systems Integration (GSI) Hub’s  purpose is to integrate genetics with public health systems in order to support individuals with genetic disorders, their families and the professionals who work with them.
     
  • Wisconsin Statewide Medical Home Initiative (WiSMHI): promotes the concepts of medical home to primary care clinicians, families and service providers throughout Wisconsin. The program provides training, technical assistance and resources to support medical home implementation.
